PARISH REPORT FOR THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2024
These events were carried out with the support of the Pastoral Council, Church Brotherhood, Sisterhood, Parishioners, and Benefactors.
Special thanks to St. Olga’s School for its active participation in parish life.
SPIRITUAL LIFE OF OUR PARISH
1. From February to September, a monthly parish bulletin was prepared and sent to parishioners.
2. On February 25 and March 3, online Lenten retreats were conducted by Hieromonk Ignatius, OSBM. The retreat concluded with a service by Fr. Peter and Fr. Christopher Hedley.
3. A Paschal dinner was organized.
4. In August, with the blessing of Bishop Benedict, Fr. Roman Bobesiuk was appointed administrator of the Immaculate Conception parish.
5. We received the relics of St. Luke the Evangelist from the Vatican for permanent veneration.
6. Every Wednesday, online prayer reading of the Holy Scriptures is conducted.
7. Monthly, when possible, the relics of St. Charbel are exposed for veneration, accompanied by healing prayers and anointing with oil.
8. A three-day Christmas retreat was held on the theme: “The Holy Family as a Model of the Domestic Church.”
9. Adult catechesis is conducted after Sunday Liturgies, unless there is a feast or another event.
10. Deacon Oleg Zatvarskyi prepares children for their First Confession.
11. Fr. Roman Bobesiuk teaches at St. Olga’s School.
12. Pastoral visits are made to parishioners who cannot attend church.
13. A visit took place by the Protosyncellus of the Eparchy, Fr. Richard Janowicz, and the Syncellus for development of St. Nicholas Eparchy, Fr. Mykola Buryadnyk, regarding the development of our parish community.
14. Our community participated in the UGCC project “Living Rosary” and in the prayer for Ukraine at the Lady of Peace pilgrimage center.
15. Participation in events dedicated to: Ukraine’s Independence Day, a prayer walk to Fr. Honcharenko’s grave, climbing Mission Peak, and commemorating the victims of the Holodomor.
16. The parish Facebook page is updated daily.
17. A weekly parish bulletin has been launched.
18. A bilingual website has been created, where information is updated weekly.
19. A YouTube channel has been launched, featuring videos of Liturgies and sermons.
20. Live streaming of Liturgies is conducted every Sunday and on feast days.
21. Our church welcomed pilgrims from Minneapolis, from St. Constantine Church, who were on a pilgrimage to our Transfiguration Monastery.
22. The parish feast was celebrated together with St. Nicholas Day, organized by St. Olga’s School.
23. A parish event “Christmas Prosphora” was organized.
24. A farewell to carols was held together with St. Olga’s School.
25. The Nativity play and carolers from St. Olga’s School visited parishioners’ homes.
26. The blessing of the ocean waters and the city of San Francisco and the Bay Area took place.
27. The Jordan home blessings were carried out.
28. On the first Sunday of each month, a prayer and blessing for children is conducted.
29. A logo and template for parish letterheads were developed, and a seal for the parish library was created.
30. A Eucharistic set and other necessary church items were purchased and blessed.
31. A monthly newsletter is sent out with information about parish events.
32. A parish annual plan was developed.
33. Received 60 books with texts of the Divine Liturgy.
34. Received a decree-blessing from Bishop Benedict for the Pastoral and Economic councils.
PROPERTY MAINTENANCE
Thanks to our brotherhood and sisterhood, parish events are organized. In addition to organizing various events, they also participate in maintaining the premises, including cleaning and repairs.
1. In July, the restroom in the hall on the second floor was renovated.
2. General cleanups were organized on March 16 and August 17.
3. A drinking fountain was installed in the hall by Fr. D-n. Oleh.
4. The roof over the hall was inspected. No visible damage was found. However, during heavy rains, interior walls become damp. We are looking for a solution to this issue.
5. After resolving the leakage problem, plans include renovating the restrooms in the hall, installing a ramp, replacing doors, and renovating the living space above the choir loft.
6. A representative from the Eparchial insurance company inspected the church. We are working on addressing their recommendations.
7. A cleaning schedule for the church was created.
8. Stage lighting was installed in the hall.
FINANCIAL ACTIVITIES
1. An online donation platform was created.
2. An online fundraiser was conducted together with the parents of St. Olga’s School to purchase a drinking fountain.
3. An online fundraiser was conducted to purchase a Eucharistic set and other church items.
4. This year, the annual contribution was increased; the recommended donation is $150 per family and $75 per individual.
5. The eparchial cathedraticum of St. Nicholas Eparchy was paid in the amount of $2,051.
6. An economic council was created and its composition was approved by the ruling Hierarch, Bishop Benedict Aleksiychuk.
7. Various investment opportunities are being explored to provide stable income for the parish.
CHARITY
1. A fundraiser for military chaplains was held – $1,090.
2. A donation from the proceeds of ticket sales from our parish feast was sent to the orphanage in Lviv” House of Mercy” – $500.
3. We provide our hall for charitable events in support of Ukraine. The following events took place:
• Art tour by Anatoliy Matviychuk.
• Charity evening “On the Field of Blood.”
• Shevchenko celebration.
• Performance by the “Wandering Stars” theater.
• Performance by Ruslan Horovy.
• Performance by bandurist Anastasiya Vitvytska.
• Sale of baked goods and various items by the Ukrainian Women’s Union to support fire victims.
